Frequently asked questions?
A unique and environmentally friendly form of building material. Higher in strength, aesthetically pleasing with natural colour tones. This an interlocking stabilized earth compressed bricks. The most economical building material which do not need to plaster and special design can accommodate electrical and water supply lines.
Advantages:
- Convenient to tropical climate like in Sri Lanka
- Sand and cement usage comparatively less
- Time consumption and labour usage is less
- Interlocking facility
- Convenience in plumbing and electrical pipe laying.
- Not necessary of plastering
- Per day 300 bricks can be laid by one labour
Is this brick lasts long?
Yes. Higher compressive strength. (Minimum 3.0 N/mm2 which is more than the strength of burned bricks and cement blocks).
What are the specific features?
- Thermally radiant, hence inside of the building is cool.
- Brick is a good insulation membrane for both sound and thermal insulation.
- Create comfortable lifestyle more in relation with nature
Construction time
Consume lesser time frame to build up the building due to, Interlocking Earth Compressed Brick is bigger than the normal brick.
Size comparison
ECO BRICK size-295x145x100mm Burned Brick size-150x100x60 mm
Moisture reactivity?
The soil mixture for an IECB is slightly moisture and poured into a steel mould and then compressed under a specific pressure to gain maximum compression.
The input of soil stabilization allowed building walls, which have much better compressive strength and water resistance.
Cement is able to disperse itself to fill the pore spaces where it sets and hardens to form a continuous matrix, which surrounds the particles of soil, and bind them together with the time. And the manufactured brick cured for four weeks while treating with water for a good compaction.
If bricks expose to the rain?
As normal burned brick & cement block brick; inter locking earth compressed bricks also get seepage when they expose to the rain.
How to avoid it?
Use colourless water repellents, Cement based soil paint, Silicon based paint where the bricks are severely exposed, Plastered walls, Apply weather shield paint and etc.
There are many options of exterior finishes such as Exposed brick (mostly preferred) , applying only paints, plastered walls, applying filler and painting
